Although I try to post a blog article only once a week, I just read about a book-giveaway that ends May 11 that you might be interested in entering.
Jamaican author J.L. Campbell (http://thecharacterdepot.blogspot.com/), whose second novel, Dissolution (Nevaeh Publishing), is scheduled for release May 20, is hosting the contest to celebrate the one-year anniversary of her blog. The titles are ones she has read during the past year or so, and although many of my blog followers are children’s authors, summer can be the perfect time to try something different when it comes time to escaping with a good book.
I’m putting Campbell’s new title and her first release, Contraband, on my book list and look forward to discovering a new author for my bookshelf.
What books are on your summer reading list?

Thanks for this plug, Michelle. Much appreciated.
So many books. So little time. It's not so much books and authors, although I have a long list of books. I want to read some Elmore Leonard. My son-in-law, a great reader, loves his stuff and I want to get to it. I want to do some research for projects I have in mind so will be reading The Art and Craft of Writing Historical Fiction, Everyday Life in Colonial American, and Life and Times in Colonial Philadelphia. I also will be reading books for Sacramento Book Review -- always a treat.
Rosi, from reading your blog site, I can tell your reviews for Sacramento Book Review will be excellent. I can't wait to see what book you'll be writing based upon your Colonial America research. Will it be a picture, middle-grade or young-adult book? Happy research and writing!
I have an idea for a series, either middle grade or chapter book, set in Philadelphia during the time of the continental congresses and the Declaration of Independence. It will be a mystery series. I'm going to a Highlights Founders Workshop the end of this month and then will spend two days in Philadelphia before I come back doing research. I'm very EXCITED!!!
I'll be excited to read this series too! You're using all the right buzz words as far as I'm concerned, with history and mystery at the top of the list. I hope you'll post a blog about your time in Philadelphia; it sounds as if it will be an excellent and productive trip.

Your message just made my entire day, J.L.; thank you very much! This entire week has been wild at my day job, and I was crashing by the time I got off work this evening. Now I'm looking forward to a good read.
You must be super excited that it's only one more week until the release of your second book; again, congratulations!
